FACILITATING THE DEVELOPMENT OF NATIONAL CULTURAL AWARENESS IN PRESCHOOL EDUCATION: STRATEGIES AND APPROACHES

This article explores the essential role of preschool education in nurturing national cultural awareness among young children. As a critical period for social and cognitive development, the preschool years provide a foundational framework for understanding and appreciating one's cultural heritage. Through a comprehensive review of literature and empirical research, this study examines strategies and approaches employed by educators to facilitate the development of national cultural awareness in preschool settings. Drawing on theoretical frameworks from developmental psychology and multicultural education, this research elucidates the significance of integrating cultural content into early childhood curricula and activities. From multicultural literature and storytelling to cultural celebrations and activities, educators employ a variety of pedagogical techniques to foster cultural understanding, empathy, and identity formation in young learners. Through case studies and practical examples, this study highlights the importance of culturally responsive teaching practices and collaborative partnerships with families and communities in promoting national cultural awareness in preschool education.
