Abstract

This article investigates the theoretical foundations and multidisciplinary interpretations of the concept of the proverb. Drawing upon historical, linguistic, cultural, and cognitive frameworks, the paper analyzes the structure, functions, and classifications of proverbs. It also compares Western and Eastern scholarly traditions, with particular focus on Uzbek paremiological studies. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of how proverbs serve as a mirror of social consciousness, ethics, and linguistic artistry.
